Federation Internationale de Football Association 18 gets a new trailer, cover athlete revealed

This trailer seems to indicate that Switch players will get a dumbed down version similar to what PlayStation Vita players experienced when the sports game released on that handheld.

"Frostbite game engine technology and the Journey: Hunter Returns mode are available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC platform versions only". Will the Switch version's portability make up for its less powerful engine? After all the Nintendo device runs lower-end hardware compared to its console competitors, and is outfitted with a mobile NVIDIA Tegra X1 SoC with 1.024 TFLOPs of GPU power.

There were already rumours that the Nintendo Switch version of Federation Internationale de Football Association 18 would be slightly different than what will be found on other current generation consoles when a leaked listing displayed the Switch version as a completely separate game.

The Journey is FIFA's version of a story mode and was introduced in last year's series release, taking players through the highs and lows of Alex Hunter, a budding superstar who was embarking on his career.

EA is removing the Legends feature from the Ultimate Team and have replaced it with "Icons".

The Nintendo Switch release has not yet been dated. But how it comes to the Switch is extremely important, and could offer clues in how EA sees the Switch now and what it plans for the platform in the future.

The new instalment will launch on 29 September, 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Switch.
