Did Russia Interfere in the Election, Collect Info on Trump — Putin Interview

"There were no meetings", Putin said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin claims to have no knowledge of any 2016 meetings between members of his government and President Trump's campaign.

The FBI is now conducting an investigation, led by former FBI Director Robert Mueller, into Russian attempts to interfere in the last US presidential election, including whether there could have been any connection to associates of the Trump campaign. James Comey - who was sacked from his post as FBI director by Trump in May - told a congressional committee in March that the Federal Bureau of Investigation also was investigating "whether there was any coordination" with Trump's campaign. Flynn reportedly informed the Trump transition team in early January of the investigation into his Turkey ties, which means the administration was aware of Flynn's vulnerabilities before Trump took office.

Putin told NBC interviewer Megyn Kelly that the dinner where the two met was routine. He called the allegations "domestic political squabbles" and a line of attack against Trump.

"This is just another load of nonsense". "Because if there had been something meaningful, he would have made a report to the minister, and the minister would have made a report to me". "Even in these reports there is nothing specific but only assumptions and conclusions based on assumptions". There wasn't a discussion about sanctions or anything else.

Kelly deserves credit for asking Putin tough questions in the kind of interview that Barbara Walters or Diane Sawyer used to do with world leaders.

Putin also said that he barely interacted with Michael Flynn, Trump's former national security adviser, during a dinner in Moscow in 2015 when the pair were seated together.

According to NBC News, Flynn was paid $45,000 to speak at the event and was given the "seat of honour" next to Putin.

Being a good Republican in this day and age means that you like who Donald Trump likes and his enemies are your enemies.

"I made my speech. If Mr Flynn and I had this kind of interaction, while you and I, we have spent an entire day together, and Mr Flynn was sacked from his job, you then should be arrested and put in jail", the president joked.

And I got up and left. He was involved in some things. "He used to be in the security services.'" "That's it", Putin said, speaking through a translator. "As for election meddling, I don't think they really had anything to do with it".

Flynn was sacked by Trump in February after offering misleading descriptions of conversations he had had with Kislyak.

Russian President Vladimir Putin says he hardly spoke with former U.S. national security adviser Michael Flynn when they sat together at a Moscow dinner in 2015, according to USA media.

"What fingerprints or hoot-prints or horn-prints, what are you talking about", he said.

NBC promoted the heck out of the "big get", showing exchanges between Kelly and Putin on various news shows.

Russian Federation has denied involvement, and Trump has denied any collusion between his campaign and Russian Federation. "And so in this regard, even if we wanted to, it wouldn't make sense for us to interfere", he continued. The Russian president just laughed. "Yes, he visited Moscow in his day", Putin said. "I haven't seen, even once, any direct proof of Russian interference in the (US) presidential election".

He also had an equally feisty reaction when asked if he had a dossier of information on Trump that he was using to blackmail the president. "By some calculations it was convenient for them to release this information, so they released it, citing Russian Federation", the president said.
