Arsenal confirm Sead Kolasinac signing

Arsenal says Bosnia-Herzegovina defender Sead Kolasinac will be the club's first signing in the transfer window.

Kolasinac came through Schalke's youth ranks after joining from Stuttgart and played 123 games in league, cup and Europe for the senior side.

His arrival may mean an exit is imminent for 27-year-old England worldwide Kieran Gibbs and Kolasinac would fit-in perfectly in a three-man defence for Arsenal, excelling as a wing-back, whilst he's also capable of playing on the left-side of a back four.

In a statement on the club's official website, they announced that the player will join Arsenal on a long-term contract and will start pre-season training in July.

Kolasinac, born in Germany but to Bosnian parents, made 94 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke and played over 20 Europa League and Champions League matches for the "Royal Blues".

Kolasinac comes to the club as a replacement of an ageing Nacho Monreal, whose performance drastically deteriorated in the last season.

Arsenal have been linked with a big-money move for Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe, while Henry Onyekuru - a forward now at Belgian outfit KAS Eupen - has also been touted as a target.

The Bosnian defender becomes Arsenal's first summer signing since Arsene Wenger committed his future to the club by signing a new two-year contract.
