Apple to introduce new iPhone to block block text, calls while driving

Most AR apps will not be available until iOS 11 is available in the fall. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro is available in silver, space gray, and gold. All of these Macs are getting bumped up to the latest seventh-generation (Kaby Lake) Intel Core chips.

One of the most exciting improvements announced at WWDC 2017 were the iPad Pro updates.

If you find something, make sure you report it to Apple. It will make use of an iPhone or iPad's sensors and cameras to produce much more complex gaming experiences, complete with ambient lighting estimation, scale estimation, and plane estimation with basic boundaries.

Flawless for Space Gray enthusiasts.

The new machine will come with an 8-core Xeon processor, with configurations that scale up to an 18-core Xeon processor and an all-new AMD Radeon Vega graphics GPU, up to 16GB of VRAM and up to 4TB for SSD storage.

Apple said it is updating its iPad Pro with a 10.5-inch Retina display and a refresh rate the company said is twice as fast, making videos smoother and crisper. We'd have loved to seen the device get smaller or have a larger screen, in the same way its iPad Pro 2 10.5 brother has managed, but this is a very similar shape to before.

Been trying to be a safer driver and not look at your phone while behind the wheel?

The new 10.5-inch iPad Pro starts at $649 for a 64GB Wi-Fi only model and tops out at $1,079 for a 512GB variant with cellular connectivity. Apple hopes that these additions will help you avoid using your phone behind the wheel - at least until we can offload that entire sector of our economy onto AI.

How will iOS 11 improve the iPad Pro?

Apple previewed the next version of watchOS 4, its operating system for the Apple Watch. Of course, all payments must be securely authenticated with Touch ID.

Apple has introduced something called an ARKit to enable developers build augmented reality apps for the iPhone.

The product was introduced on stage by Apple executive Phil Schiller, who said it works closely with the company's Music app and will ship in December in the US, UK and Australia.

To some extent, Apple is playing catch-up with Google, which has already launched its Tango augmented reality platform - though Tango devices are still hard to come by.

That's not the only new feature in iOS 11 by any means, but it's probably the most significant one in terms of Apple's future in alternate reality. Importantly, this can give Apple a content foundation for its inevitable introduction of an AR headset or AR glasses. "It will reinvent home audio", boasted Apple CEO Tim Cook.

HomePod looks like a generic speaker. Apple sees the HomePod as a way to reinvent the home music experience and bundle Siri, its AI engine, in the center of it all. It expectedly integrates with Apple Music, which is an advantage since Apple has a stronger position than Amazon in music streaming. It includes new features for watchfaces, such as complications updating based on time of day or location and a new Siri-based watchface. What HomePod lacks are meaningful third-party integrations, which is largely what Echo has to thank for its success; Alexa now has over 10,000 third-party Skills. It unveiled HomePod, a new 7-inch tall speaker for playing music, checking the news and controlling other connected devices in the home. The HomePod will go on sale later this year and costs $349.

The real big-hitter for hardware this time is the updated iMac Pro.

Overall, there were a slew of announcements to hold consumers and investors over until the iPhone event later this year. Evan Niu, CFA has the following options: long January 2018 $120 calls on Facebook.
