Questions Jose Mourinho needs to answer in the summer market

The Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has revealed why he turned down a move to Manchester United last season.

It is at Manchester United where Evra really made his name, however, with the defender making close to 400 appearances for the Red Devils between 2006 and 2014 - winning five Premier League titles and the Champions League during a successful period.

Herrera told Sky Sports: "Our manager is a victor".

Varane is considered as one of the best young centre-backs in the world so I'm sure Madrid will do all they can to try and keep hold of him but United's interest could lead to a sensational player-plus-cash swap deal. Choosing Madrid over Manchester United in the first place, the French defender has had some distinct ups and downs since doing so.

In addition, Morata provided a higher amount of assists per game than Lukaku and Griezmann, indicating that the Spaniard is the attacker that United should look to sign. "[He told us] I want to say thank you to all of you, but the best thing is you are great human beings and good men and that's the most important thing".

Mourinho's United struggled at times throughout the season, with the club drawing 10 times at home and scoring on only 54 occasions during the league season but, as Anderson points out, the lure of the biggest competition in European club football will allow the Portuguese coach to further strengthen his squad.

"I think you have a duty and a responsibility to entertain". He told me sometimes I was going to play more defensive and in other games he was going to need me more forward.

But Evra, who spent eight years at United and was back at Old Trafford on Sunday for Michael Carrick's testimonial, has hit out at those who criticise his former club.

The 24-year-old has started 23 La Liga games this season for Zinedine Zidane's side and could play a role in the Champions League final on Saturday night against Juventus. "I remember this season, whenever he was playing, he was always positive".
