Former Lakers player Derek Fisher accused of DUI after crash

Officials said a DUI evaluation was conducted on Fisher, and he was subsequently arrested without incident.

The crash was a little after 3 a.m. on the westbound freeway, approaching the 405 Freeway interchange.

Fisher was driving his Cadillac when the vehicle veered right onto the shoulder where it hit a raised curb and then the wood/metal guardrail on the shoulder.

Neither Fisher nor his passenger, girlfriend and former "Basketball Wives" reality star Gloria Govan, was injured in the early morning crash, the California Highway Patrol said.

Fisher was driving and allowed a vehicle to pass before his Cadillac hit the raised concrete curb and guardrail on the shoulder. The vehicle flipped and landed on the roof, blocking two lanes of traffic on northbound 101.

However, once officers arrived to the scene, they determined Fisher had been drinking and arrested him on suspicion of DUI. Fisher and Govan, 32, were helped out of the vehicle unharmed.

And while he was the Knicks' coach in 2015, he got into a fight with former teammate Barnes, who reportedly drove to Govan's house (she was still married to him at that point, but separated) and attacked Fisher for being there.

Govan is the ex-wife of Golden State Warriors forward Matt Barnes.

Fisher, a resident of Tarzana was the Knicks coach from 2014-2016, played 18 years in the National Basketball Association, spending a majority of his career with Lakers and was an integral part of five NBA championships with the team. Fisher was sacked by Jackson in February 2016 after a 23-31 start to his second season.
