Ronaldo helps Real Madrid become 1st team to retain CL title

Ronaldo has been in transcendent form once again this season, reaching 400 career goals for Real as the team won the Spanish title for the first time in five years.

Zinedine Zidane, a head coach for only 17 months, became the first manager to oversee back-to-back European Cup successes since Arrigo Sacchi's fabled AC Milan team won the tournament in 1989 and 1990. They came away as losers for the seventh time in nine finals having also lost to Barcelona in 2015.

Madrid, who became the first team to retain the trophy in the Champions League era with a 4-1 victory over Juventus, opted to line up with the side which finished the domestic season strongly.

The Grammy Award-winning eclectic hip-hop group will be entertaining the Cardiff stadium crowd just before Juventus and Real Madrid meet in the biggest club game in world soccer.

Any hopes of a Juventus comeback were ended when substitute Juan Cuadrado was sent off 18 minutes after coming on, the winger receiving a second yellow card for a clash with Sergio Ramos, before Madrid substitute Marco Asensio put the icing on the cake in the last minute.

Bonucci's flighted pass from deep was volleyed into the box by Alex Sandro and Higuain chested the ball down before teeing it up for Mandzukic.

In his 155 games for Real he scored 37 goals and got another 24 in 151 games for Juve.

Zidane has his own special place in Real s storied history after scoring the victor in the 2002 Champions League final against Bayer Leverkusen, a triumph that marked the highpoint of the Galacticos era at the Bernabeu.

"I remember in December, when I went back to Turin and had dinner with Gigi, chatting also to other ex-teammates, they were convinced they had a great squad and could go all the way".

We continue to advise people who don't have tickets to the match to avoid travelling by vehicle or public transport to the city centre due to the unprecedented influx of visitors we are expecting. Ronaldo said, after being asked about Messi during the interview, that he likes Leo, adding that he likes to watch the games of all good footballers.

That effort was eclipsed seven minutes later by one of the all-time great final goals.

"The players deserve it and so do I because I scored twice and I'm the top scorer in the Champions League".
