Real Madrid win 33rd La Liga title

Real Madrid attacker Isco vows to stay at the Bernabeu after helping the club land their 33rd La Liga title on Sunday night.

"We knew that the league is everything and when you win it, it is very important". Since then Barcelona have won the title in 2012-13, 2014-15 and a year ago, 2015-16.

Zinedine Zidane claimed on Sunday winning La Liga as Real Madrid coach surpasses his stellar achievements as a player and even lifting the UEFA Champions League in his debut season as a coach past year.

An impressive first half goal from Cristiano Ronaldo and then settling down matters against Malaga riding on a Karim Benzema finish, Real Madrid clinched their first La Liga title since 2012.

Cristiano has hit out at his critics once again after helping Real Madrid to their first Spanish league title in five years, insisting that most people who criticise him "don't know sh*t".

"Since the beginning of the season we have wanted to win the league and we are in luck", said Ronaldo. "I have won everything with this club, this shirt but to win La Liga is the best of all".

"He has managed things very intelligently along with his assistants", Ronaldo said.

Last year's champions Barcelona finished second on 90 points after coming from two goals down to beat Eibar 4-2 at home. I've been here a long time and it's a very tough league to win.

'After 38 games if you are top you deserve, there can be no questions.

Atletico Madrid earned a 3-1 win over Athletic Bilbao in an emotional final game at the Vicente Calderon Stadium, which will be demolished to give way to a modern housing complex. Atlético de Madrid had 78, Sevilla had 72 and Villareal and Real Sociedad had 67 and 64 points, respectively. "As always in a season, we have worked and fought until the end, and with the squad that we have we just had to think of working".

Zidane has won four trophies in 16 months since taking charge of the Spanish giants and he is one step from becoming the first Real coach since 1958 to win the European Cup and league title in the same season.
