According to the Partnership for Public Service, a nonpartisan group that provided the Trump transition with hiring advice, the White House has only been able to put forward nominees for 117 Senate-confirmed positions, even though there are 559 Senate-confirmed positions that are considered to be among the most important.
"Kushner has to be extremely careful what he says to people".
Trump also has renewed his criticism of Germany following Chancellor Angela Merkel's suggestion that her country needs to adopt a more independent stance in world affairs.
During a press briefing today, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said that a small group of people understand what President Donald Trump meant when he posted a unusual, incomplete tweet shortly after midnight.
Spicer was also asked to explain Trump's odd "covfefe" tweet, and why it remained live for so many hours.
"It's extremely uncomfortable" to be a senior adviser inside the White House and be at the center of such an investigation, he told CNN's John Berman.
One possible explanation is that top Trump transition members were seeking Russian help with Syria, which is potentially reasonable given the country's alliance with President Bashar Assad and the bad price being paid by innocent civilians in the 6-year-old civil war.
"I'm not going to dignify partisan accusations", said Spicer.
While his departure day is still unknown, he resigned on May 18th in a private meeting with president Trump and offered to stay on until the President completed his first worldwide trip to ease the transition. And while he has a long list of questions about whether members of the Trump campaign coordinated with Russian Federation during the presidential campaign, he said the media runs the risk of jumping to conclusions based on incomplete news reports. Trump poked fun at the typo, tweeting around 6 a.m., "Who can figure out the true meaning of "covfefe"???".
Fusion was one of the first on the case, quoting Trump's tweet and adding a meta twist: "It's now been 15 minutes and the President still hasn't deleted this tweet". #Covfefe zoomed to the top of Twitter's trending topics. One user joked that "covfefe" is already a popular name for babies in states that voted for Trump. Still, unnamed administration officials close to the president reportedly are pushing Kushner to step aside during the investigation.
In an interview on Fox News on Tuesday, Conway said Dubke "made very clear that he would see through the president's worldwide trip, and come to work every day and work hard even through that trip because there was much to do here back at the White House".
Opponents of the Trump administration were quick to take the opportunity to accuse Kushner of potentially committing espionage and Democrats have called for his security clearance to be removed till the investigation concludes.
