Wenger adamant Sanchez and Ozil will not leave Arsenal

Arsene Wenger insists Arsenal stars Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil will be retained by the club in the upcoming summer transfer window, despite reported links to other clubs.

The 28-year-old is also a target for Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester City, but Arsenal have apparently made it clear that they will not do business with another English side. Unless you find a player of the same calibre and if they absolutely want to leave...

When pressed on whether they would leave, he replied: "No".

Madrid face Juventus in the Champions League final in Cardiff on Saturday, bidding to become the first team to defend Europe's elite club competition.

"He just wants to be successful and you see on the pitch that he never gives up, right until the last second where some players might say: 'Oh, it's over'".

"I believe, at the moment, we're not on that front".

Whilst Ozil was initially holding out for wages in the range of £350,000-a-week which would see the German on par with the Premier League's highest-earners, the report from the Sun claims that a lack of leverage in terms of lucrative offers from other clubs has resulted in the player having to settle for Arsenal's offer of £280,000-a-week, with the Gunners clearly breaking the club's wage structure to keep the World Cup victor in North London.

"The interest of any player is always to play football and well, even more so at the end of your contact".

The Chilean, who spent three seasons playing for Barcelona, returned to Spain this week to enjoy some time in the sun alongside two of his best friends - his golden retrievers, Atom and Humber. "If you're a victor, you want to win the game you're playing".
