Beebe is among the school districts in White County offering summer food service programs for children 18 and under.

The Lawrenceburg Community School Corporation announced Wednesday that it will be bringing back its Summer Food Service Program this June and July. Any child who needs food is welcome, whether or not they attend summer school.

Second Harvest also delivers meals to the Bull Street Library in Savannah, where staff had noticed children were sometimes dropped off for six to seven hours at a time with nothing to eat. The first bus stop will be at 9:15 a.m. and the last will be 2:45 p.m., and it will cover Alma, and sections of Van Buren, Mountainburg, Dyer and Rudy.

"One of the best meals of the day is making sure the kids have a nice hot breakfast each day and we do offer that during the school year".

In the Riverview School District, free meals will be provided in the Riverview High School cafeteria through June 29 on Monday through Thursday. Located in Waco, Baylor welcomes students from all 50 states and more than 80 countries to study a broad range of degrees among its 11 nationally recognized academic divisions.

The Y had been participating in the meal program at its summer sites but began the mobile program past year when "we recognized that many of these kids are in apartment complexes and may not be able to make it to some of our camp sites", Duncan said.
