PM Modi reaches France, to hold talks with President Emmanuel Macron

St Petersburg (Russia): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, wrapping up his Russia visit on a high, today reaffirmed India's commitment to reducing carbon emission under the Paris Climate Change accord, as he invited global businesses to invest in the world s fastest growing economy, saying "sky is the limit" for them.
Listing the steps taken to make the economic environment more attractive to foreign investors, Modi said his three-year-old government had abolished more than 1,000 obsolete laws and introduced some 7,000 reform measures, in all, at the central level to improve the ease of doing business.
"I have in simple way stated the dream of "New India". Ahead of the Spief both the leaders had unveiled a joint vision document, outlining new areas of economic partnership.
"For the last 5000 years, even when I was not born, it has been the tradition in India to protect the environment", Modi said. He focused on the agenda of minimum government maximum governance in India, boasting about India's political stability and a vibrant judicial system. He said India was targeting 175gw of renewable energy by 2022, adding that India was setting up more power-generation capacity in renewable energy sector than in thermal.
Prime Minister Modi had also called up Macron to congratulate him on his poll victory and said he looked forward to work with him to further deepen the bilateral ties. Besides, India has the world's second largest railway network. "It was only after 9/11 incident that the world understood the true horrors of terrorism, and the fact that it has no boundaries", he said.
Wrapping up his visit in Russian Federation and before leaving for France, Modi tweeted, "Thank you Russian Federation". During his visit to the country, PM Modi will hold talks with newly-elected French President Emmanuel Macron on key issues like terrorism, India's NSG membership bid and climate change.
