"Extinction is 100% power and adrenaline", said Kraig Kujawa, Game Director at Iron Galaxy. The fast-paced game entitled Extinction, where players fight huge ogres and their minions, is set to release sometime in Q1 of 2018 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
On Thursday, June 1, the publisher and developer released a trailer for the upcoming game on YouTube, which does not reveal actual gameplay, but offers a brief idea about the game's setting and also introduces fans to the protagonist.
Extinction is a fast paced action title, where players are the last of an ancient order called the Sentinels - tasked with stopping massive ogres and their minions by defending cities and rescuing villagers.
The game will be shown to select press behind closed doors at E3.
The game will include a deep story campaign where you will need to protect the human population from brutal opponents.
Numerous side missions with various objectives that allow players to earns upgrades to aid you in your campaign. Iron Galaxy describes the gameplay as built upon a "dynamic skill-based combat system", which requires players to "tactically disarm and dismember enemies" to weaken them before they can be killed.
From the sound of it, Extinction hopes to recapture the same kind of intense action as third-person action games like DmC Devil May Cry and PlatinumGames' Bayonetta, as Avil will have a whip to perform aerial assaults as well as the ability to wall-run. Master dynamic combat maneuvers to effectively traverse the giant beasts and expose their weak points, progressing along different skill trees to develop a path best suited to your playstyle.
Extinction will be available on PlayStation®4, Xbox One and PC in Early 2018.
The developer also added a fully destructible environment, so that players can use them for their own benefit in some situations.
