Durant, Warriors getting to the rim at will

With Game 1 in their back pocket, the Warriors became the first team to win their first 13 straight playoff games and they tied the late '80s Lakers for most consecutive postseason victories. The Warriors committed 11 fewer turnovers; dominated the offensive glass; and outscored the Cavaliers in two separate stretches they should have lost, when Draymond Green went to the bench early with foul trouble and Kevin Durant and Steph Curry sat simultaneously. For what it's worth, Durant also matched up with LeBron James on the other end when the Warriors' starting unit was on the court.

For all the boffo production from their big scorers, the Warriors put up an unexceptional true shooting percentage of 50: They very much won Game 1 on the margins. At his State of the National Basketball Association press conference before the game, Silver noted he is in favor of changes in the draft lottery and minimum playing age, but said he is conflicted on the paucity of competitive games this postseason leading into the Finals. But after Durant dropped 38 points, eight rebounds and eight assists while Curry chipped in with 28 points, 10 assists, six 3-pointers and three steals, it's increasingly hard to believe that's a realistic possibility. The Cavaliers' defense, bottom-10 in the league this season and not that much better in the playoffs, parted the seas for Durant on a pair of first-half transition dunks.

"As I sit here on the eve of one of the greatest sporting events that we have in sports, you know, race and what's going on comes again, and on my behalf and my family's behalf". "I think we just locked in from the second quarter on".

Curry signed a four-year $44 million contract with the Golden State Warriors, including $44 million guaranteed and an annual average salary of $11 million.

Mike Brown expects to coach the Golden State Warriors as planned in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

Stephen Curry has also played well. "So we'll see. It worked pretty well in Game 4 of last series".

"Obviously what we went through the last two years, you learn from that and you grow", he told reporters.

On the eve of the Cavaliers and Warriors meeting for the third straight year, police said James' mansion in Los Angeles was vandalized in the morning with a racial slur spray painted onto the front gate.

It's unclear if JaVale McGee was trying to send a message when he arrived at Oracle Arena for Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

For years, Durant was a poster child for the National Basketball Association, doing absolutely everything right. Yet he hadn't felt well enough in the previous days to feel like he was ready.

The Warriors made the ideal start after becoming the first side in history to enter the finals with a 12-0 record. This move would prevent teams from going over the cap and just paying a luxury tax. That one loss came in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals, as the Celtics managed to eke out a close win against the Cavs after being embarrassed in Game 2.

This will be star-studded affair with Golden State's Kevin Durant joining the mix as one of seven 2016 All-Stars in the series.
