Curry, Durant power Warriors past Cavs

And would we all watch the NBA Finals if it wasn't the Warriors-Cavaliers?

The greatest basketball player on the planet looked helpless on Thursday night in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

This game, the site of the Warriors' Game 7 humiliation to the Cavaliers previous year, was supposed to be the first time the Warriors felt any real resistance this postseason.

Competition was slim, but Fox did put up originals against the game. Instead, he got shook out of his sneakers - and Game 1 - gambling on defense. At 9 o'clock, however, Love Connection dipped to a 0.8 rating in the key demo as viewers turned the dial to ABC.

"This is not going to be a secret that we hold onto and surprise everybody with to trick anyone", Myers said in an interview on 95.7 The Game on Thursday.

The Cavaliers entered the game 12-1 in the postseason. Rihanna apparently heckled Durant and he gave her a look and shook his head. It should go without saying, but the team with the best regular season record in the history of the National Basketball Association adding a former MVP and future Hall of Famer has made them even more better and even more scary. One game does not show that Durant has become the world's best player.

Beyond the turnovers - which stood out in contrast to the Warriors' record-low four - it was nearly laughable at times how the Cavaliers abandoned the paint defensively as they tried to avoid getting killed by the Warriors 3-point shooting.

Stephen Curry did his share by scoring 28 points with six 3-pointers and 10 assists as this sure-to-be thrilling trilogy began, a long-expected, spectacular grand finale envisioned ever since that July day Durant left Oklahoma City to join the loaded Warriors. Rihanna is known to be a hard-core LeBron James fan.

Just go play. And it worked splendidly for the two-time reigning MVP and Kevin Durant in their first Finals together.

ESPN reported that if Kerr feels well enough in the next two days there was "optimism" he could return as coach for game two in the best-of-seven series Sunday in Oakland. "In shooting 34.9 percent as a team with 20 turnovers, there clearly wasn't in Game 1".

"You take away those easy baskets and take away them having 20 more shots than we did, it's a different ball game", he said. But he passed the ball to Curry - who hit a three-pointer.

"When you turn the ball over, that's when they become very unsafe because those guys, they sprint down the lane, they sprint to the three-point line, they put a lot of pressure on your defence", James said.
