Beyond The Mic: Warriors Dominance Will Make For Disappointing NBA Finals

Someone painted a racial slur - the N-word - on the gate of his Los Angeles home, leaving James to address racism rather than his seventh straight Finals appearance or stopping KD. He was asked what it means.

Thompson has been stellar on the defensive end even when his shot has been off and will likely be counted on at times to slow down Irving, who scored 98 points in the final three games past year, including the series-clinching 3-pointer.

Pressed on if he was rooting for James, Riley said, "I'd like to see a great Finals".

"I thought he was wonderful given the circumstances of his injury, but to me he looks fresher, faster, stronger than he did a year ago". With the Oklahoma City Thunder, he made the 2012 NBA Finals, only to finish second to James and the Miami Heat.

Yeah, the guy's not too bad. When you sub out Harrison Barnes for Durant in your starting lineup, you should be better.

He doesn't have to. Third time's the charm.

Steve Kerr expects to decide soon whether he will coach the Golden State Warriors at all in the NBA Finals, saying Monday he is not yet ready but hasn't ruled himself out for Game 1.

James became the first player to lead an NBA Finals in every major statistical category with 29.7 points, 11.3 rebounds, 8.9 assists, 2.6 steals and 2.3 blocked shots a game previous year.

And he did not just do it with scoring.

"Mike's been unbelievable. It's an awkward situation, again this is so unique", Kerr said. "I'm sure LeBron probably thinks he could play better, and you tip your hat off to KD". While much has been made of Curry being healthier during these playoffs than he was a year ago when an ankle and then a knee injury hobbled him, Durant doesn't recall Curry being too hobbled when his Warriors beat Durant and Thunder in the Western Conference Finals.

At 32 years old, he's playing his best basketball when Cleveland needs him to play his best basketball.

Golden State has two of the best one-on-one players in the league - Curry and Durant - and yet relies on a passing game that everyone hails as attractive basketball. Golden State Warriors' Kevin Durant smiles during an NBA basketball practice, Wednesday, May 31, 2017, in Oakland, Calif.

"They're so talented", Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said.

Curry and Thompson were rightfully hailed as the best-shooting duo in league history. They execute at the defensive end of the floor.

James gave proper respect. They are not only a great team, but they are also a happy one, and that is a part of their mystique. But this is not James' first underdog rodeo. As long as Golden State limits turnovers, they should be able to stay productive offensively. The 2016 season ended on the night of June 19, and ever since then the Warriors and Cavaliers have been betting favorites to get back here. [Tim Duncan] on the same team.
