The good news about the long-awaited "Wonder Woman" is that it's the best of the recent set of DC films, following the tiresome "Man of Steele" (2013) and the dark "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" (2016).
"She's incredibly strong but she also stands for something, which is the opposite of being violent, which is love, truth, compassion", the director says. And even when DC tried, it tanked hard and how with Superman (Man of Steel), Batman (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) and even Suicide Squad.
"Someone would come up and and be like - 'My friend says your someone, I should know what have you been in?' Pine laughs, 'I am Ryan Pratt, and I was in The Green Thor.' And they're like, 'I knew it!'" Recent "Superman" and "Batman" movies have all been disappointing, and the studio has spent more than a decade trying to bring "Wonder Woman" to the big screen.
Gonzalez has already screened the film three times and said it is worth the buzz. "I think it is very important to have proper representation here in Hollywood". "We are a continuation of a vision and a dream of a great character". Before she landed the job of helming the first solo adventure for the fantastic Amazonian, though, she nearly made a film for the Marvel Cinematic Universe instead.
"She has been like a sister to us on this journey", Jenkins said of the actress who famously played Wonder Woman on TV in the 1970s. "And it's been amusing: Lynda (Carter) was so that in the '70s with her Wonder Woman". Not one boy. She likes Wonder Woman because she is "my cousin and my friend".
"We made a PG-13 movie, and it has some scenes that are tough for me to decide who it's appropriate for, but I went out of my way not to be graphic and protect those younger girls who are going to want to see the film".
Almost 40 years after Superman was given his first blockbuster film, Wonder Woman has finally arrived.
Overall, I really enjoyed this movie. That stuff is all old hat but "Wonder Woman" separates itself by putting its female lead above all other players. like WAY above all other players. It's also eyeing a $95 million box office haul this weekend.
"I was the person who had been coming and talking to [Warner Bros.] about it for a long time and talking about doing it in a very specific way", Jenkins said. Where it lost me a little was the final fight, because we all know DC love a big CGI end fight don't they!
