National Donut Day: Where to get free doughnuts in NYC

Honey Dew Donuts Honey Dew customers who buy a medium beverage or larger will receive a free "coco loco" doughnut, a doughnut made with chocolate almond-flavored frosting and sprinkled with both coconut and chocolate. No matter where you are, you're not far from a doughnut.

To get your free doughnut, you don't need to join the Krispy Kreme loyalty program or like them on Facebook - simply rock up to a participating outlet and ask for a free doughnut.

Sugar Shack Donuts has free donut offers daily all year. Also, receipts printed Friday will feature an exclusive BOGO coupon for a half-dozen, redeemable Mondays through Wednesdays until August 31.

Dunkin' Donuts: Get a free classic doughnut with the purchase of any beverage. It was established in 1938 to acknowledge the Dough Lassies, a group of volunteers with the Salvation Army who baked doughnuts treats for soldiers serving overseas during World War I.

National Doughnut Day will be marked Friday with sweet giveaways at two locales.

Harris Teeter: Get a 6 count box of glazed doughnuts will be on sale for $1.97 on June 2 (limit 2).

The more you know, the better the doughnuts taste, especially when they're free. Additionally, some Dunkin' Donuts restaurants also feature regional favorites like the Sour Cream Donut in Chicago, and the Peanut Stick in upstate NY. This deal is only valid at "new concept" and remodeled Cumberland Farms, which you can find by searching here.

And some local donut shops around Boston are offering specialty donuts for one day only on Friday. Also, if you stop by the Carwash location at 638 West 47th Street, and while supplies last, you can get a free mini sugared doughnut. On June 2, locations will be giving customers "any donut with a hole" free of charge.
