Mr Met gives fan the finger, employee done with mascot duty

The Sooners eliminated IL on Tuesday afternoon at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill., which advances them to the final match in the NCAA Championship for the first time in the history of Oklahoma men's golf.

Forgive Andrew Harris and Spencer Papa if they need a nap in a day or two. Now, they've got (drumroll please) mascot drama.

My first reaction was: Oh no, Mr. Met.

NY had been trying to stretch a winning streak to four for the first time early April.

Major League Baseball didn't seem inclined to suspend a mascot, rather letting this be handled as a club matter. I was one of two students to transform into Sparty during the 1993-94 season when I was also an aspiring journalist - out of costume, of course.

"We apologize for the inappropriate action of this employee", the Mets said in an email attributed to the organization.

Mets SS Asdrubal Cabrera made a diving stop of Hernan Perez's third-inning grounder and a glove flip to 2B Neil Walker, who caught the ball with his bare hand to force Travis Shaw. In a rather ironic line, the team's description of Mr. Met says "he may be quiet now, but can gesture in 12 different languages".

"Not on social media", he said. "We'll joke about it, I mean we didn't get hurt in that inning, so it was good", Flores said.

The Mets shared the story of Mr. Met on their homepage.

"We didn't play our best (and) Oklahoma played wonderfully", OR coach Casey Martin said.

Thousands of kids were at Citi Field early for Zoo Day, and they all eagerly greeted Mr. Met when he wandered past them.

As he walked into a staff-only exit in the stadium, Mr. That led some online to note that, technically, Mr. Met isn't capable of giving someone the middle-finger salute.

Take it from me, a former Michigan State mascot.

The general manager of the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s, the Mets' top minor league affiliate, tweeted that "unfortunately" their mascot "Cosmo is not eligible for a call-up to NY". If there's something aside from flipping the bird that a mascot should never do, it's losing his or her head. His mother was a member of the first women's golf team at OU and was the first female athlete in school history to be offered a scholarship.

"Unbelievable", one player said. Thames went 63 plate appearances in between homers, a stretch in which he batted.163 with two RBIs while battling a hamstring injury and strep throat. But the first time he tried it in a game, with fans going insane, he became a true beagle and just ran all over the field.

One of the all-time greatest Sooners, Ghilea ended his career as one of seven Oklahoma student-athletes to earn All-America honors in singles.

The Mets hope to put these incidents in the past as they host the Milwaukee Brewers Thursday afternoon in the final match of a four-game series.
