Lions need six-game preparation for first New Zealand Test - Ian McGeechan

"As a kid at school you always went on tour, clubs always went on tours". France are the only northern hemisphere nation against whom the All Blacks have a winning percentage below 80.

He already knows what it is like to beat the legendary men from the land of his birth after being part of Ireland's historic victory over the back-to-back world champions in Chicago last autumn. The last lot in 2005, labelled the most professional and well-prepared tourists to head to New Zealand, failed miserably.

Though the presenter is quick to point out that the focal point of the documentary is not just the national side, but the country as a whole.

"I was just having a bit of fun with Brian Moore", Jones said. Everything is stacked against the Lions and the first Test is absolutely huge - if they win that one, it is game on.

New Zealand secured a 3-1 series triumph.

"They are a smart side and they will know what's coming".

I didn't get to see the Lions win the match 31-12, but their presence made a great impression off the field in the region.

"Johnny and I have got on really well and after playing so often against him, it is good to be on the same side". It's what every player wants to do, and I have managed to make it through.

The book is structured as a chronological account of the tour, presented nearly as a round-table conversation, so that players of both sides debate who threw the first punch in the battle of X, or whether the sustained by Y and Z were the result of planned thuggery or the outcome of legitimate rucking. "It's a part of our DNA".

"Sean Fitzpatrick had a superb game leading up front", Berg said.

Two of the three Lions' Tests, the first and the last, will take place at Eden Park. "I'm enjoying it", said Farrell. "It was pretty emotional visiting the grave of Dave Gallagher".

England, who have provided 15 of the 41 players, are now ranked second in the world behind the All Blacks while coach Warren Gatland added 11 from Ireland, who are fourth and hammered the world champions for the first time past year in Chicago. Conversely, there is a strong argument that there is no such thing as a Vunipola-light option, and that in the absence of the man himself a different back-row strategy should be sought.

Lions wore dark blue jerseys, forcing the All Blacks to play in white in the first test.

"My mates still play touch rugby on a Monday night, it's in the blood".

George North is a Gillette ambassador for the Lions' tour of New Zealand. "I'm enjoying it. That's one of the things that will bring you together. there's been a fair amount of it, to be fair, and I hope it will be good".

The New Zealander was the Forwards Coach in 2009, when McGeechan coached the team for the final time. "It depends on what other people see me as, not about what I think". When you're in it, you don't even think about it - it's being away from it all that shows you. It was a collective effort and we are proud of the result. Before the votes were counted he kept quoting the polls, while I countered that the betting market was more honest because that reflected real money.
