'Bachelorette' Contestant Allegedly Made Racist, Sexist Tweets

Garrett is a 30-year-old singer/songwriter from Nashville, Tenn., who is still in the running on the ABC dating show, vying for "Bachelorette" Rachel Lindsay's heart. "One has the sense to cover their racist ass faces". His Twitter profile is private, but in his public bio describes himself as "pleasantly offensive".

ABC's The Bachelorette made history by debuting its first African-American protagonist this season.

The other tweets include statements such as, "Guys..."

But the 31-year-old's offensive and negative tweets between the years 2015 and 2016 expressing disdain against women, the Black Lives Matter movement, Islam, the LGBT community and the NAACP, were collected as screenshots and called out online by viewers of the show. There are going to be people out there who are looking for stories, and will go back and see what you had to say for many years. "There is a reason for this", one tweet read. "The Orlando terrorist was a devout muslim and a registered democrat" are two more off color tweets.

One screenshot claims Garrett wrote, "I wholeheartedly support inhumane torture of terrorists", in addition to, "Thousands sign petition to recognize #blacklivesmatter as terrorist after Dallas".

The tweets, which ABC has declined to comment on, have led to speculation about why ABC included someone who is supposedly a bigot in a competition featuring a Black potential suitor.
