Amir Khan wants Brook bout after Spence Jr takes title

Kell Brook (left) and Errol Spence embrace after their IBF Welterweight World bout at Bramall Lane.

Spence is 22-0 with 19 knockouts.

I couldn't see out of the eye, so I had to stop.

"I love a challenge; I've proven these guys wrong before and I'm going to do it again", he declared. "I'm devastated", said Brook.

When the 27-year-old Texan was asked about his plans for the future, he answered without hesitation, "Now is man down, start of season two".

Brook looked eager to fight on beyond the count, but he failed to get back to his feet in time and the referee ended the contest as Spence claimed the welterweight title having passed the most hard test of his career to date.

When Spence put his rival down in the 10th, Brook's quick leap to his feet intimated he was suffering more with the chaos of injury than through the power of punches coming his way.

"But I'm going to prove myself Saturday night".

Brook couldn't keep Spence Jr off him any longer though and after more punishment in the 11th, he took a knee again and the fight was over. "He's a very well rounded, accomplished fighter, but I think we'll know more when he fights the other Welterweights in America".

"If the eye hadn't have gone I think the fight would have mapped out a little bit differently but it is what it is and I didn't get the win".

Brook needed the same fix job on his right eye socket following defeat to Gennady Golovkin last September. Cruiserweight Okolie, who looks very impressive indeed, and also won inside a round to delight the rowdy support and extend his record in the paid ranks to three fights undefeated.

Earlier, George Groves secured a world title at the fourth attempt, ripping the heart out of WBA champion super middleweight champion Fedor Chudinov with a brilliant, sustained assault in the sixth round of a fight which was not going his way.

Would the fight have played our any differently had the injury not taken place in the pivotal seventh round of the IBF Welterweight championship? I can knock him out in front of his hometown fans. But now he is thinking, "I've got to go have that done again".

Brook was naturally disappointed at losing his belt, but paid credit to Spence Jr. "I showed true grit, I showed I can take a punch". He designs all my shorts, every time I've fought, every single fight I have had. Crawford can not put his light welterweight titles on the line as he is expected to move up to the 147 weight limit to face Pacquiao unless the fighting senator agrees to face him at 140 pounds.
