If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
NBC has announced some pretty major changes to their fall schedule, especially when it comes to This Is Us season 2 and its timeslot.
After making the decision to keep This Is Us on Tuesday nights, NBC also chose to move its new true crime miniseries, The Menendez Murders to Tuesday nights as well so that the show could keep This Is Us as its lead in.
So what will NBC be rolling out on Thursdays? "Will & Grace" gets the 9 p.m. slot on Thursdays, with comedies "Superstore", "The Good Place" and "Great News" also in the Thursday lineup, and "Chicago Fire" wrapping Thursday prime at 10 p.m.
"We went back and forth about [moving This Is Us to Thursday]". Ultimately though, the network has decided not to move forward with their Must See TV lineup on Thursdays and while Will and Grace will still be a part of the night's lineup, as will the now moved Chicago Fire. Are Your Favorite Shows Canceled or Renewed? So, the whole "Must See TV" plan has been scrapped in favor of a comedy-focused Thursday, with Will & Grace and Great News now staying on Thursdays alongside The Good Place and Superstore, both of which were originally going to move to Tuesday.
"That's just the fact of the matter", Greenblatt said, before addressing This Is Us' then-broadcast plan. "We have some ideas to keep the show alive even when there are no shows [airing]".
