Korean rapper and member of BIG BANG, T.O.P is now facing probe over marijuana use, according to a local news outlet.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, a positive result from T.O.P's hair follicle test indicated that he had smoked marijuana.
He began his military service on February 9 and has been serving in the band unit of the Seoul National Police Agency. It was not confirmed whether he was a habitual marijuana user, said the report.
"The rapper has undergone all police investigation, and is regretting his wrongdoing".
"We found that T.O.P was investigated during the police service on charges of smoking marijuana before enlistment and sincerely completed all the investigation..."
YG Entertainment, which represents T.O.P, has acknowledged the allegations and issued a statement regarding the issue.
In South Korea, just the use of marijuana can get you five years in prison or fine of 50 million won (about $60K).
The police has forwarded the case to the public prosecutor's office, accusing T.O.P of violating illegal drug laws. Whether the member smoked the drug on a daily basis was never known. G-Dragon was accused of smoking marijuana in Japan in 2011, but received a suspension of indictment.
