Arsenal face centre back crisis ahead of FA Cup final

Laurent Koscielny was sent off for a reckless tackle on Enner Valencia - a rush of blood that will rule him out of the FA Cup final against Chelsea - but Everton were not in the mood to try and capitalise.

Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi is a massive doubt to face Premier League champions Chelsea in the FA Cup final next weekend, according to a BBC journalist.

Arsenal are facing a defensive crisis for the final, with Arsene Wenger also expected to be without Gabriel after the centre-back was substituted due to injury against Everton.

Mustafi missed yesterday's closing Premier League win over Everton after suffering a blow to the head during the win over Sunderland at the Emirates last Tuesday night.

To make matters worse, Alexis Sanchez also limped out of the win over Everton with a suspected hamstring injury so the Chilean worldwide could also miss out this weekend.

Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Arsenal to not make an irrational decision surrounding the future of Arsene Wenger after they failed to finish 2016-17 inside the Premier League's top four.

Wenger, however, refused to offer a riposte, brushing off the quotes by replying: "Well, I do not give too much importance to what Tony Adams says".

Arsenal finished in fifth place with 75 points, four more than they managed previous year as runner-up. I don't care about me, I care about us winning on Saturday.

"I want to do it just to win the Cup, because I think the team has redressed very well the situation on the sporting side", he said.

"Obviously, we have good memories", said the 31-year-old, who was part of the squads which prevailed in 2014 against Hull City and 2015 against Aston Villa.

"We played at home where your mind is on attacking and on the day we lost two centre-backs".
