UPSC exam 2016 results declared, KR Nandhini from Karnataka tops

The Union Public Service Commission declared the results of the civil service examination 2016 on Wednesday.

The vacancies, as reported by the central government across services are: IAS - 180, IFS - 45, IPS - 150, Central Services Group "A" - 603 and Central Services Group "B" - 231. Nandini KR from Karnataka topped the prestigious UPSC CS exam 2016 while Anmol Sher Singh Bedi and Gopalakrishna Ronanki secured the second and third ranks respectively. The selected candidates belong to General, OBC, and SC/ST categories and their respective share was 500, 347 and 163/89.

The Civil Service examination conducted by the UPSC is considered to be one of the most important examinations. A total of 1,099 candidates have been recommended for appointment, besides a consolidated Reserve List of 172 candidates.

Almost 11 lakh candidates appeared for the Union Public Service Commission Examination in India this year. 11,35,943 candidates applied for this examination, out of which 4,59,659 candidates actually appeared.

The written exam was held in 2016, while the Personality Test was conducted in March-May, 2017. Students who have appeared for the exam can check their results from the official website (see steps below to know how). He is computer science graduate from BITS, Pilani.

Optional subjects of the top 25 candidates in the examination ranged from Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Anthropology, Economics, Electronic Engineering, Geography, History, Mathematics, Political Science and International Relations, Public Administration, Psychology and Kannada and Telugu Literature.
