Griffin faced immediate backlash after the photos were released Tuesday. "I made a mistake, and I was wrong", Griffin captioned the clip.
Griffin even found herself on the receiving end of a Twitter smackdown from Anderson Cooper, with whom she's rung in the New Year on CNN for the past number of years. I oppose President Trump and his actions. I understand how it offends people.
"Trump is the social media president", photographer Tyler Shields told BuzzFeed News in his first interview since the controversy broke.
"It's pretty disgusting, and I can't imagine how anybody would think that's appropriate", he continued. "I sincerely apologize. I am just now seeing the reaction of these images", the My Life on the D-List star said in a Instagram video. "I'm merely mocking the Mocker in Chief", she tweeted several hours before apologizing.
In a behind-the-scenes video posted by Shields, Griffin asserted to the camera that she and Shields were "not afraid to do images that make noise". [I'm] taking down the image, going to ask the photographer to take down the image.
Griffin drew condemnation from many on social media after posting the original video on Twitter earlier in the day. I made a mistake.
As Griffin explains, being a standup comic means sometimes going too far, and she acknowledges that's precisely what she did.
"I might not agree with him, she definitely doesn't agree with him, but I'll defend my right to be able to say whatever I want until I die".
"2/ OBVIOUSLY, I do not condone ANY violence by my fans or others to anyone, ever!" The terrible things I have seen about President Obama seemed to fly under the radar, though.
