McDonald's expanding delivery locations on UberEats

On Wednesday, McDonald's president and chief executive officer, Steve Easterbrook, announced McDelivery on the UberEATS app has expanded to an additional 1,000 USA restaurants this week and will grow to reach 3,500 US restaurants by the end of June during remarks at the Bernstein Strategic Decisions Conference in NY. New locations include the NY metro area, Seattle, Denver and more.

The world's largest fast-food chain had announced two weeks ago that "McDelivery" through the UberEats app was available in 1,000 US locations. UberEats typically charges a booking fee - say, $4.99 - that can vary by location. There are hundreds of restaurants, both local and big franchises, that participate in the Uber Eats delivery service.

"We'll bring the McDonald's experience to more customers in their homes, their dorm rooms, their workplaces and beyond", Chief Executive Officer Steve Easterbrook said at an investor conference on Wednesday.

After testing delivery for years, the fast-food giant is now racing to scale up the effort.

The McDonald's delivery expansion will have the company adding an additional 1,500 locations by June for a total of 3,500 stores that offer the service. This is when 60% of delivery orders were made.

Easterbrook notes that the McDonald's delivery option is popular later in the day.
