Father, brothers of alleged Manchester bomber arrested

Another man, 22, is arrested in the town of Nuneaton in central England, widening the British police probe beyond areas in and around Manchester.

Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said Thursday that it was "absolutely understandable" that the leaks to USA media had caused the victims' families distress, but he would not comment on reports by British outlets suggesting intelligence sharing between the two allies would be reduced to some extent as a result.

But it is not known what USA official is responsible for leaking photos of the bomb remnants to the New York Times, a revelation that outraged British authorities.

"This is until such time as we have assurances that no further unauthorized disclosures will occur", said a counter-terrorism source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Speaking later Thursday in Brussels, May described the intelligence sharing relationship between the USA and Britain as "deep", but added that it was, "built on trust, and part of that trust is knowing that intelligence can be shared confidently".

A German magazine reports that the Manchester concert bomber passed through Duesseldorf airport four days before the attack.

Abedi passed through Istanbul on his way to Europe, Turkish security officials told Reuters, but said they had no records of him entering Syria during his travels as had been suggested on Wednesday by the French interior minister. As of early Thursday, British police had arrested eight people in connection with the attack.

After the bombing Britain raised its official threat status from terrorism to the top level, "critical" - meaning another attack may be imminent.

"I will make clear to President Trump that intelligence that is shared between our law enforcement agencies must remain secure", May said. A Department of Homeland Security report on visa overstays released this week found that in FY 2016, 43 percent of Libyan students in the US on student visas overstayed their visas - suggesting monitoring of those in the U.S.is in need of improvement.

In her first substantive comments since the tragedy on Monday, May 22, the singer said she felt "uplift" by seeing fans' compassion after the blast which killed 22 people and was claimed by the Islamic State group.

"The public should remain vigilant", she said, following an emergency ministerial meeting.

There are 32 now in Manchester hospitals, of which 18 are adults and 14 are children. He said that while Abedi's family was well-known and respected - and his father even used to perform the call to prayers during the many years he lived in Manchester - Abedi himself was an unsociable young man who didn't regularly attend mosque or community gatherings. Abedi travelled back to Libya just weeks before the attack, purportedly to visit his parents.

The senior Abedi denied that his son Salman had links to militants, telling the AP in an interview "we don't believe in killing innocents" before being taken into custody in Libya, along with another son, Hashim.
