Democrats aim to keep focus on Trump's meeting with Russians

The Post reported that the FBI, which is in the midst of an ongoing investigation into Russian Federation meddling into the 2016 election and the possibility of collusion with some elements of the Trump campaign found that meeting to be of "investigative interest".

Russian government officials discussed having potentially "derogatory" information about then-presidential candidate Donald Trump and some of his top aides in conversations intercepted by USA intelligence during the 2016 election, according to two former intelligence officials and a congressional source.

Reports about the December meeting in Trump Tower between Russians and Trump officials - which was already under scrutiny from investigators - have thrust Kushner into the center of the ongoing Russia investigations.

Dubke told CNN Tuesday he submitted his resignation on May 18 but offered to stay until the end of President Trump's foreign trip. The pitch played off the Kushner family's relationship to Trump and brought up immigration, which are two no-nos for the president, according to the newspaper.

Trump said he was thinking of "this Russian Federation thing" as he ousted Comey, who was in the fourth year of a 10-year term as head of the country's top criminal investigative agency.

The meeting took place at Trump Tower in NY and included the Russian ambassador, Kushner and Michael Flynn, who went on to be Trump's first national security adviser.

Yates confirmed reports that she had told the White House, six days into Trump's administration, that Flynn, a former military intelligence chief, had not been honest with Vice President Mike Pence about his discussions with the Russian ambassador to Washington, leaving him vulnerable to leverage from Moscow.

On the bombing investigation Trump said: "British Prime Minister May was very angry that the info the United Kingdom gave to US about Manchester was leaked".

President Donald Trump returned to the life he is accustomed to in Washington on Sunday, assailing the news media reporting the turmoil inside his White House, and the investigation of his aides and their links to Russian Federation.

Both Lewandowski and Bossie discussed the prospect with the president before his trip, according to one person told of the conversations.

But Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, a Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, said Kushner should not be in possession of security clearance while the investigation was underway.

While stories of potential staff shakeups seem like a weekly occurrence in this White House, Trump's mounting ire - and the likelihood that its source can't be easily eliminated - may create the right conditions for an actual senior staff shuffle.

The Washington Post said Kushner's secret communications proposal was made on December 1 or 2 at Trump Tower in NY, according to intercepts of Russian communications that were reviewed by U.S. officials.

The latest reports says Trump adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner proposed a secret back channel between the Kremlin and the Trump transition team.

Earlier this month, Trump fired the FBI director, James Comey, who was overseeing that investigation.

Mr Flynn served briefly as Mr Trump's national security adviser but was sacked in February. Neither the meeting nor the Americans involved were under USA surveillance, officials told the Post. He said only five of the 28 members meet the obligation and "it's unfair to US taxpayers".

Russia, a pivotal player in Syria, has backed Syrian President Bashar Assad, often at the expense of civilians and at odds with US policy during Syria's long civil war.
