Trump makes fun of Kushner's family during meetings

Reports that top White House adviser Jared Kushner attempted to establish a secret communication link with Russian Federation has an ex-CIA official wondering if he was acting on his or following orders- and if so, whose orders.

"Jared is doing a great job for the country. I have total confidence in him". "He is respected by virtually everyone and is working on programs that will save our country billions of dollars".

Graham, a Russian Federation hawk, said he just didn't buy the story as reported by the Post.

The 36-year-old Kushner, a NY real estate executive before joining Trump's White House staff, is married to Trump's oldest daughter Ivanka, who also is a White House adviser.

"There's a judgment by Jared Kushner and the president's team that says, 'I trust the Russians more than I trust the Americans".

National security adviser H.R. McMaster said in a press conference Saturday that the United States has backchannels with several countries, suggesting that the matter shouldn't be cause for concern.

"Any channel of communication, back or otherwise, with a country like Russian Federation is a good thing", Kelly said. "Whenever you see the words "sources say" in the fake news media, and they don't mention names, it is very possible that those sources don't exist, but are made up by fake news writers".

"I'm going to presume he did this at the behest of the president-elect of the United States", former Central Intelligence Agency official Phillip Mudd said on CNN Monday.

Democrats, in light of the reports, are calling for the president to revoke the 36-year-old's security clearance because of his potential links to Russian Federation. But people familiar with the matter say the Federal Bureau of Investigation now considers the encounter, as well as another meeting Kushner had with a Russian banker, to be of investigative interest.

The meeting with the Russian ambassador occurred when Kushner was not yet a government employee, and the effort's secrecy gave the appearance that he and other senior Trump aides were not sharing their moves with the Obama administration.

"Sounds like he's more than glad to talk about all of these things and instead of getting wrapped up into a lot of hyperbole, as these things can sometimes do, I think talking with him directly and getting him to answer any and all questions as he said he would do would probably be the prudent course of action", Corker told NBC.

The Kushner revelations also could deepen the administration's woes as congressional investigators and newly named special counsel Robert Mueller probe his contacts.

Ambassador Sergey Kislyak reported to his superiors in Moscow that Kushner, son-in-law and confidant to then-President-elect Trump, made the proposal during a meeting on December 1 or 2 at Trump Tower, according to intercepts of Russian communications that were reviewed by USA officials.

Mr Kushner had been regarded as an ascendent figure in the White House and a flag-bearer for the more moderate voices in the administration. She held a roundtable discussion on the topic shortly before departing for the trip, met with human trafficking victims in Rome, and held another meeting on the topic at the White House on Friday.
