Wayne Rooney and Manchester United raise the Europa League trophy following their 2-0 victory over Ajax. It was hard to train but the manager told us the only thing we could do was to win it for them, and that's what we've done.
Rooney then said he had "more or less" made that decision, adding: "I still believe I could [play every game]".
In 559 appearances for United since 2004/05, Rooney hit 253 goals and is the club's all-time record scorer ahead of the legendary Bobby Charlton. We know we've got the players capable of winning the league but it didn't happen - we've had to play through the Europa League to get to the Champions League. "Big clubs that me as a player love to play, so I feel really proud to have won my first European trophy with United - but hopefully it is the first of many".
A sixth-place finish in the English Premier League meant United had to win this match if they wanted to secure Champions League qualification.
Earlier yesterday, Rooney's worldwide career looked over after he was left out of the squad for next month's World Cup qualifier against Scotland and a friendly in France. Now it is for him to work, he can have his holiday in August.
After United's Europa League win on Wednesday, Rooney said, "There's lots of offers on the table, both in England and overseas, and really that's what I have to decide on".
"He's finished the season a bit better and I'm sure he'll take that into next year".
A two-time European champion with Porto and Inter Milan, Mourinho once declared he didn't want to win the Europa League.
"I think I understand what s right and what s needed for the club, and I respect that".
"I just have to make a decision in terms of a football decision, and that's what I'll do", Rooney said.
Striker Paul Pogba dedicated United's Europa League title triumph on Wednesday to the people killed in Monday's terror attack in Manchester, saying: "We won for Manchester and the country". "It doesn't matter if it's Champions League or not, Ed Woodward (the United executive vice-chairman) has my analysed (targets)".
