Charles Roven, the DC Films executive producer, said there are definitive ties between Aquaman and Justice League. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes - Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash - it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions. Well, obviously, no mention is made of these famous references since Justice League, whose Joss Whedon took the lead after the departure of Zack Snyder, has not yet released (duh!). While there is no official word on the storyline of Justice League and Aquaman movies, it appears that hints of how the sequences of the DCEU movies will be placed have been revealed. He confirmed that Aquaman will be set in the aftermath of Justice League.
Jason Mamoa's standalone Aquaman film is hitting theaters a year after the dothraki seahorse banters with the rest of the DC Extended Universe's superheroes in Justice League and it looks like the events of the watery superhero movie are going to follow straight after Warner Bros. highly anticipated superhero team-up film.
Roven added that while Aquaman will be set after Justice League, future projects are free to be set in many periods of the DCEU timeline.
The photos show her in full outfit which is adds more thrill to what we can expect to see when the movie is finally released December 2018. But how will it exactly affect Aquaman and subsequent films? While the photos don't necessarily reveal anything new about the film itself, they do tease what looks like an epic final battle between this fully-formed Justice League and the forces they're fighting against in the movie. We could do a movie that takes place after Justice League, we can do a movie that takes place after Batman v Superman... well not really.
Aquaman is now scheduled to be released in theaters on December 21, 2018.
