Iran has been fighting organizations like al-Qaeda and other Salafist groups whose ambition is to attack the United States.
The Islamic Military Alliance (IMA) formed in December 2015 under the patronage of Saudi Arabia, now led by the former Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, General Raheel Sharif, comprises 41 countries with the aim to combat terrorism.
Notwithstanding their desire to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Iranian threat assumes greater urgency for both Israel and the Arab states.
The dangers of IMA can be gauged from the fact that it is not Saudi Arabia and the conservative Gulf monarchs who are the main driving force against Iran.
During the apparent love-fest between Mahmoud Abbas and POTUS Trump at the Whitehouse in early May, Trump tweeted that it "was an honor to meet with PA President Mahmoud Abbas".
The Israeli government's approval of a plan to install a cable auto to Jerusalem's Old City hit the front page headlines in local Palestinian dailies.
He called upon all "nations of conscience" to isolate Iran, deny it funding for terrorism, and "pray for the day when the Iranian people have the just and righteous government they deserve".

While Obama rarely spoke of terrorism, Trump used versions of the word "terror" 31 times in his address.
"The time has come to prove to the Israelis, the Palestinians and the entire world that an important segment of the Israeli population is opposed to occupation and wants a two-state solution", the Head of Peace Now, Avi Buskila emphasised.
Fifty years after the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are still languishing in refugee camps in Lebanon.
Chief economic adviser Gary Cohn initially suggested in Brussels that the White House didn't yet have a position on sanctions stemming from Russia's 2014 annexation of Crimea, but then told reporters on Friday, "We're not lowering our sanctions on Russian Federation". And it was in Israel's and Saudi Arabia's interest to show they're building a relationship with him. Very few decisions were made in the summit meetings, while Trump played to his base with an "America First" approach to foreign relations.
The alliance poses multiple dangers.
