Tom Cruise confirms Top Gun 2 IS happening! DETAILS

When pushed if the rumors of a Top Gun sequel were true, Cruise went ahead to confirm by expressing "Yes, it's true". Yes, the borderline mythical Top Gun 2 motion picture is officially on its way after years of chatter.

Cruise confirmed on Australia's Sunrise on 7 that Top Gun 2 would be happening. "It's definitely happening", he added.

"Hell, yes", the actor told a Reddit user during an ask-me-anything session earlier this year, after being asked if he would agree to be in the sequel. "It's going to happen". Previous year the action star shared a photo of him and producer Jerry Bruckheimer with a caption that suggested they were talking about the possibility of filming Top Gun 2.

"Top Gun 2 is about Maverick returning to the Navy because he's the only one who can get an old version of powerpoint to work", one user wrote on Twitter.

And in an Ask Me Anything on Reddit last month, Val "Iceman" Kilmer was asked if he'd be in a Top Gun sequel, to which he replied: "Hell yes".

According to Deadline, Bruckheimer met with Cruise to discuss fitting "Top Gun 2" into his schedule during an on-set visit of "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" a year ago. Tony Scott directed the original which also starred Tim Robbins and Kelly McGillis.

Despite mixed reviews, the original Top Gun was a massive success a the box office - earning more than $450 million worldwide against a budget of less than $30 million.
