Saving their best for last, Alexis Sanchez put Arsenal ahead with a controversial early opener that was allowed to stand despite an apparent handball.
It's not. This Arsenal team is good enough to beat anyone on its day - as we saw at Wembley - but it is not good enough to win the Premier League over a 38-game campaign. I said last week that this team would win the championship with one or two buys and keep them together. The former Germany global had played just 37 minutes of football in over a year before his final appearance, but showed no signs of rust as he put in one of his best performances in an Arsenal shirt.
Aaron Ramsey, who scored his second FA Cup-winning goal having also secured the trophy in 2014 against Hull City, said he wants Wenger to continue in charge, praising his switch to a three-man defence which enabled Arsenal to finish the season strongly.
In turn, winning the FA Cup and ending on a high note was crucial for him and his players as the wait to discover what the future holds for him is nearly over.
"I'm happy for the manager, to get another FA Cup, I'm delighted", Aaron Ramsey told BBC Sport after his late victor. "But I repeat Moses is an honest player and if there was this situation he was exhausted and he didn't want to cheat the referee".
The flag was raised which meant that the goal was initially ruled out, but after a lengthy discussion between Mr. Taylor and the linesman who called Ramsey offside, the decision was overturned as the duo decided that Ramsey neither touched the ball nor appeared to interfere in play. "They started better than us". Within seconds of the restart, though, Aaron Ramsey restored Arsenal's lead with a header.
"We all know the negative talks around the club and it can't have been a nice place to be but Arsene Wenger looks like a young kid there and it's nice to see because he has been under a lot of pressure". "Victor Moses doesn't need to apologise". He said we should support during the game and criticise anywhere else, but I have to disagree.
"It has been hard for me to do my coaching badges actually as a player - I've been looking to do it for the previous year".
"The manager backed me up, knowing I was going to be sidelined for more than six months", Mertesacker said recently.
