Chelsea want Inter Milan winger despite Man United opening bid

Inter Milan's Ivan Perisic has reportedly agreed a £100,000-a-week deal to sign for Jose Mourinho's new look Manchester United side next season. United sources say any signing could also mean that the club is more open to offers for Anthony Martial, although the French star is not officially "for sale".

Chelsea were then understood to be keen to hijack United's proposed deal with the Daily Mail reporting that the Blues had lodged their own enquiry for the Croatian global.

Monday's football stories link United boss with a raid on the San Siro.

The Croatian winger joined Inter Milan from Wolfsburg for £20 million last summer but Italian media outlets claim he'll cost United three times as much.

Any signings in attack could be discouraging for current players, however.

Chelsea are likely to be on the lookout for significant reinforcements this summer as Conte prepares his team for a return to the Champions League next season.

According to The Sun's Dan King, United will beat Chelsea to the Croatian's signature, as the player's "heart was set" on a move to Old Trafford and the wages he could earn there. The report suggests that Mourinho sought the help of old friend, Predrag Mijatovic, who is known to be the Mr Fix-It for transfers involving players from the former Yugoslavia.

Ligue 1 giants, Paris Saint-Germain are also believed to be interested in the Croatia worldwide, who only wants a move to Old Trafford after he reportedly held talks with Mourinho in March.

Ivan Perisic is a transfer target for Manchester United, Inter director Piero Ausilio has confirmed.
