The month long fasting characterized by total abstinence from food, drinks and other pleasurable deriving related matters from dawn to sun set.
During this period, Muslims use the opportunity of the holy month to try and completely read the entire Quran as a form of worship, devotion and prayer. The month of fasting and prayer for Muslims gets under way in many countries on Saturday. This year has already begun with some bad news involving Muslims: two girls were harassed for being Muslim (only one of them actually was) in Portland by a white supremacist, and their defenders were killed.
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has declined a request to host an event to mark Islam's holy month of Ramadan, two U.S. officials said, apparently breaking with a bipartisan tradition in place with few exceptions for almost 20 years.
The Imam described the Ramadan period as a unique opportunity for Muslims to display the real Islam, which promotes patience, kindness, care for the needy and honest submission to Allah. So all Muslims are expected to fast.
After the morning prayer, observers of Ramadan will abstain from eating, drinking, smoking, sexual activity and negative behaviours until the fourth prayer of the day, Maghrib, which is called at sunset, reports Efe. It's time for a primer on this month and all that it entails, so that rather than asking questions about the basics, allies can be prepared and work together to keep Muslims safe and protected. They wake up before sunrise and perform morning prayers. It allows Muslims to also share the needs and sufferings of deprived families and to appreciate the gifts that Allah offers them. Still, it does not hurt to be respectful towards our Muslim friends, colleagues or family.
I recommend doing what you would want others to do to you. Also, people who are ill or who have conditions that may be exacerbated by fasting, do not fast.
