The bridge will ensure 24X7 connectivity between upper Assam and Eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh, marking a major transformation from the ferry-based, day-only connectivity that collapsed during floods.
Earlier, in a series of tweets, he described the Dhola-Sadiya Bridge as one of the most important infrastructure projects to be undertaken in India.
He said at the time of forming the government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that the new government would be transparent, decisive, pro poor, dalit, youth and women.

The bridge will also reduce the distance from Rupai on NH-37 in Assam to Meka/Roing on NH-52 in Arunachal Pradesh by 165km.
At Dhola, after inaugurating the Bhupen Hazarika bridge, the Prime Minister said, "Our government has chose to name this bridge after Bhupen Hazarika, the mahapurush who was born by the Brahmaputra here at Sadiya and sang the glory of the river in his numerous songs - not only across the country but also all over the world".
"For five decades you people have been waiting for a bridge".
He announced naming the Dhola-Sadiya bridge - spanning 9.15 km - after balladeer Bhupen Hazarika, known as the Bard of Brahmaputra, and loved across the region for his songs promoting unity among communities. In addition to being a strategic asset, the new bridge will also serve the civilians and will bring a huge respite to those traveling between the two regions. "It is not possible to bringing about changes for better and inculcate work culture for any government without the support of masses", Modi said adding that his government would continue to bank on technology to take the development to the door step of common people. Its construction began only in 2011, under the Tarun Gogoi-led Congress government in Assam, and the cost of the project was around Rs 950 crore.
Reacting to the raids, Chidambaram said, there were no allegations against him in giving permissions during his tenure as the Union Finance Minister under the UPA government.
The bridge is longer than Mumbai's Bandra-Worli Sealink by 3.55 kilometers, and has been created to carry T-72 tanks.
The party demanded to know the government's plans to counter the growing joblessness.
"We are grateful to Dr Manmohan Singh and the then surface transport minister as per the Indian culture for this great gift to Assam".
