After two videos of Melania Trump apparently spurning the hand of her husband after their arrivals in Israel and Italy became small Internet memes, the president and his wife were photographed holding hands at one point during their tour of the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican in Rome.
She saved him from an embarrassing breach of protocol, when he forgot to raise his hand to his heart for the national anthem.
On Monday, FLOTUS appeared to swat away her husband's hand on the tarmac in Tel Aviv, prompting much mocking on social media.
"President Trump landed in Rome earlier today", James Cordennoted on Tuesday's Late Late Show, "and for the second day in a row, he tried to take his wife Melania's hand".
"I love her. I'm also a fan", Mrs Netanyahu said.
Body language experts note the manner in which President Trump reaches back for Melania's hand in a palm-facing-down fashion as if to drag along a child who isn't walking fast enough.
"Because the majority of the people in Israel, unlike the media they love you so we tell them how you are great".
According to media reports, the awkward moment was captured as the United States president and Melania walked down the red carpet at Ben Gurion airport with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara.
It was no doubt a nerve-racking moment for the 70-year-old grandfather, who is rumoured to harbour a fear of stairs.
