FBI probes Kushner-Russia meetings; more documents sought

Rep. Adam Schiff, a California Democrat, also said investigators are seeking any audio recordings maintained by President Donald Trump of his private meetings in the White House and any memos maintained by Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and National Security Agency Director Mike Rogers about Trump's reported request that they deny evidence of Russian interference in the USA election.

Carter Page, an early foreign policy adviser to President Donald Trump's campaign team, wrote a letter to the House Intelligence Committee on Wednesday indicating that he will testify about the committee's ongoing investigation into Russia's election interference in an open session next month.

On Monday, former national security adviser Michael Flynn refused to honor a subpoena from the Senate Intelligence Committee for documents connected to the investigation into its Russian probe.

The committee leaders are directing the two new subpoenas at Flynn's Virginia-based businesses because businesses don't have a right to plead the Fifth, Warner said.

Dan Coats, the current USA director of national intelligence, declined to comment Tuesday on a Washington Post report that said the president had asked him to publicly deny any collusion between Russian Federation and Trump's campaign.

Flynn was sacked from the White House in February after failing to reveal information about his discussions with Russia's ambassador to the United States, Sergei Kislyak, and also misleading Mike Pence.

"This is just another sign that he is following through on his commitment to cooperate with investigators", Maloni said.

Brennan's testimony made only more imperative a full investigation of Russia's election-year hacking, any sort of Trump campaign collusion and any after-the-fact attempt to foil this question-asking.

With regard to former CIA Director John Brennan's shocking testimony Tuesday morning that he confronted a Russian counterpart about election meddling last summer, Warner said the committee is now looking into it.

"It should be clear to everyone Russian Federation brazenly interfered in our 2016 presidential election process and that they undertook these activities despite our strong protests and explicit warning that they do not do so", Mr Brennan said.

Number one in the hot seat is Michael Flynn, Trump's advisor on national security in the campaign and, for four weeks, in the White House.

Moscow has repeatedly denied the allegations and Trump denies any collusion.

"General Flynn certainly has a story to tell, and he very much wants to tell it", his lawyer has said.

Roughly a week before Trump was inaugurated, former campaign manager Paul Manafort contacted Trump's chief of staff Reince Priebus in order to cast aspersions on a controversial dossier compiled by former MI6 officer Christopher Steele, according to a report by Politico.

At a congressional hearing Tuesday, Coats did not deny the report but declined to comment about it. On Wednesday the Financial Services Committee demanded Deutsche Bank turn over records on its banking relationship with Trump.

Mr Manafort quit the Trump campaign in August past year after his close ties to contacts in Ukraine and Russian Federation were made public.
