Celtics star Isaiah Thomas unsure if he'll need hip surgery

The NBA Finals are set, with absolutely no surprise. This will also be the first time that the same two teams will face each other in the Finals three years in a row.

Who isn't consumed with this?

Kyrie Irving and LeBron James combined for 79 points at Boston's TD Gardens to claim the best-of-seven Eastern Conference finals 4-1.

Asked about when the Celtics medical staff decided the condition of Thomas' right hip was too deteriorated for him to continue playing in the second half, the Celtics guard allowed that he was adamant about going back onto the floor.

"I've been very blessed the last few years to be a part of this league and play on the big stage", James said. Like, am I the reason that they're not that good? That's all I can give you right now, because I'm happy and I don't want to be stressed. "It was tough, man, because I worked so hard to get to this point". It took the ideal storm and some historic play from James and Kyrie Irving to do the improbable past year. The David Blatt-led Cavs were a shell of themselves, though, without Kevin Love for the entirety of the series and Kyrie Irving for the final five games. Tristen Thompson has learned to shoot free throws and still tosses bodies around under the rim. So, this team, I love this team and I don't think anybody in this organization would think this team is better without me.

"I knew that if we kept it within 10, a surge was going to happen", Irving said of the Game 4 win. The Cavs will need to figure out a way to keep a team down once they have them there.

Well, even if James may be playing possum with his compliments for the Warriors, he isn't wrong.

Thomas originally suffered the injury in March before reaggravating it last week in Game 2 of Boston's playoff series against Cleveland.

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers open their title defense as underdogs against the Golden State Warriors as the National Basketball Association finals get underway next week. But the individual series are not as compelling as what we had a year ago. And so, I think maybe there's just a lack of appreciation for greatness. "The great thing about this is the experience". We're really waiting on the swelling to go down to see what the No. 1 option is. It's not the end of the world.

"That means more money?" Cleveland won the three road games in the series by a combined 90 points, the last two by a total of 77.

"You look back on it and it definitely helped us grow as a team and mature, so it's something that we needed ultimately". If that's 4-0, great. "It doesn't matter how you get those four wins, as long as you get them, and that's our goal". But honestly, probably not. "Thirty teams suit up every year trying to get to this point, and only two teams do". Kevin Durant wants to prove he made the right choice joining the Dubs and finally have something to hold over LeBron's head. Enjoy the show. Realize you are seeing history.
