Cavs blow out Celts to reach finals

Thursday night was a special one for LeBron James.

This NBA Finals rubber match between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers has been building up for a while.

For James, the Finals are an annual rite.

"I'm going to be honest, I'm not in the right mind to even talk about Golden State", James said. It's too stressful and I'm not stressed right now. Golden State, they've been the best team in our league for the last three years, and then they added an MVP. This city, this organization, you guys have been the best media to me that I've been around.

"I told him not to take the moment for granted". After torching the Celtics for 35, James now sits at 5,995 postseason career points.

On the topic of age, the fact that James entered the National Basketball Association right out of high school, and played at an all-star level nearly right away, is his biggest advantage over his historical competition. That's the only thing I didn't do.

James, who earlier on Thursday suggested comparisons were only for "barbershops", tried to sidestep the Jordan topic.

When pressed, however, he acknowledged Jordan's massive influence and the significance of the milestone.

After the game at the TD Garden James paid homage to Jordan, saying: "I wear the number [23] because of Mike".

"I think I fell in love with the game because of Mike, but when you're growing up and seeing Michael Jordan it's nearly like a god, so I never did believe I could be Mike".

"When you're growing up and you're seeing Michael Jordan, it's nearly like a god". But other than that, I did everything Mike did. "This is one that I can really put in the memory bank and be proud of up until this point because I finally got to play the majority of the games in the regular season and be challenged every, single night".

James, with three titles, is still chasing Jordan's six. But, as James made clear, numbers won't define how he compares himself to Jordan. It has nothing to do with passing the rings, passing the points, passing MVPs.

"We're definitely disappointed. I felt like if we weren't, it would be a problem", Bradley said.

But the big question remains: Who is the greatest?

It will mark the seventh straight trip to the Finals for James. He's now third with 1,439.

"I did pretty much everything MJ did when I was kid", LeBron said, per For The Win. I was like, if I'm not scoring the ball, how can I still make an impact on the game? "Drawing two defenders and no matter if you win or lose, if you make the right play, it's OK".

He scored a total of 12 points within 6 minutes and 46 seconds that made it easier for the Cavs to beat the Celtis without Lebron James. But at the end of the day, had we went 4-3, 4-3, 4-3 - we'd still be in the same position.
