British Airways cancels most flights from London

Flights have been cancelled till 18:00 BST, reports said.

BA passengers were hit with severe delays in July and September 2016 because of problems with the airline's online check-in systems.

"We're experiencing a global system outage", said the company in a reply to one disgruntled traveler on Twitter.

"When we finally boarded the captain came out and told us their computer systems were down worldwide", she said.

Paddy Anigbo, a Nigerian national visiting his wife in the United Kingdom on their wedding anniversary, said his plane sat on the tarmac at Heathrow for about four hours after landing.

BA's computer, website and phone systems are all down in what the airline described as a "global system outage".

He said passengers on planes that have landed at Heathrow were unable to get off because there was nowhere to park.

"We are working hard to get our customers onto the next available flight over the course of the rest of the weekend".

Several travellers at Heathrow told the Press Association they were not told their flights were cancelled until more than an hour after the airline put out a press statement announcing the decision.
