3 things to watch for in Celtics - Cavs Game 5

Irving put a scare into the Cavs and their fans when he stepped on Terry Rozier's foot and rolled his ankle.

After 10 straight playoff wins, including resounding road victories in the first two games of the Eastern Conference finals against the Boston Celtics, the Cavs came home and blew a 21-point third-quarter lead in losing Game 3.

"He put us on his back and carried us", Cavs coach Tyronn Lue said.

On a night when the Celtics could have easily won, a night when the great LeBron James picked up four first-half fouls for the first time in his National Basketball Association playoff career, Irving took over and stole the show.

In this one, Irving scored 36 of his points following James' fourth foul with just less than seven minutes remaining in the first half, which forced James to the bench. After the encounter, Crowder said that the Celtics need to redeem in front of their own crowd for two massive losses in the opening games of this series. Despite the fact that the Cavs will be underdogs in that potential series, Lue believes that the offense of the team's current opponent, the Boston Celtics, has an offense that's more hard to plan for than that of the high-powered Warriors. In the last game he had a very Kevin Love stat line of 17 points and 17 rebounds. He also watched Kyrie Irving drop a playoff-high 42 points.

Among the Celtics, Avery Bradley the hero of Game 3 was once again the best player with 19 points and five rebounds. Stevens started Kelly Olynyk, who had 15 points.

After losing Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals to the Boston Celtics, the Cleveland Cavaliers were in danger of dropping a second game.

Irving had led a 17-point swing in the quarter. The four-time MVP finished with 34 points and did not get called for a foul in the second half.

Many of those matches were played with Thomas on the court, but Marcus Smart has the potential to bounce back from a horrific Game 4 performance in which he scored just eight points on 1-of-9 shooting. "It doesn't matter who you're going against or how you get the job done, you're just trying to figure it out, and I think we did that". Stevens said Thomas may consult with two additional specialists. He made several highlight reel plays and racked up 33 points from the middle of the second quarter to the end of the third.

HERE COMES THE CAVSThe Irving show continued in the third quarter. "In the second half, he commanded us to be better".

Oh, and we have to include this one too.

Cleveland won the fourth quarter 40-23, and James (19 points) and Love (14 points) both continued to contribute on offense.

"As we all know, a 10-point lead at halftime is nothing, especially against those guys". She was born almost five months early.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens was disappointed with his team's defense on Irving, who was able to spread the floor while surrounded by shooters. Entering Tuesday's game, the Cavs had been outscored by 28 points in 69 minutes with James off the floor in the playoffs. J.R. Smith and his wife, Jewel, brought their daughter home after more than five months in the hospital following her premature birth.
