Star Midfielder Believes Champions League Football Will Help Liverpool Attract 'Big Players'

Georginio Wijnaldum put Liverpool ahead in first half stoppage-time, Philippe Coutinho struck in the 51st and Adam Lallana kept the party mood going with the third five minutes later. There have already been reports of a Real Madrid offer of £103m being rejected.

Given he has spent the past three seasons injured and it hasn't been until the final few games of 2016-17 those injury struggles have seemed to get in the way of playing the way Klopp would like his striker to, the club know they can not head back into the Champions League with Sturridge pencilled in as first choice striker.

"I would have liked to have played more but I am grateful to the club for the opportunities and the manager has been really nice to me". A resolution is not expected before Saturday's FA Cup final against Chelsea, the newly-crowned league champion. My guess is they go for the latter.

Last year Arsenal was the seventh richest club in the world according to the Deloitte money league. We all believe in this project. But being Arsenal fans, we must know by now that the best-case scenario seldom occurs at the Emirates. It is a fantastic club in a good situation, not flawless, but a good situation.

Any transfer is likely to depend on Sturridge's own desire with Klopp's recent praise of the frontman having indicated he would be keen to see him stick around at Anfield regardless of his fitness issues.

"Stay here and they will end up building a statue in your honour", Klopp said. "Speculation is for journalists only".

"It is annoying [to miss out] but we had a spell during the season that was hard and it was hard for me in my personal situation". But then in the middle, the performance regressed.

"But the psychological environment for that group of players was absolutely horrendous and I'm very proud of what they have done, the way they responded and finished the season".

Arsenal's season has been a tricky one, with supporters furious with Wenger after their failure to make the Champions League slots.
