RV consumed in flames following chase of man accused of shooting wife

The RV continued west on I-30 through Rockwall and Dallas counties during the next 30 minutes as multiple police departments joined the pursuit. A short time later, the woman texted 911 from her RV saying she was inside the vehicle with her children and that her husband, who was driving, had shot her. Once stopped, the suspect released the two children.

The husband kept going with the children in the RV, eventually starting a chase with the Caddo Mills Police Department and the Hunt County Sheriff's Office, according to Cook. He let his two young children out of the vehicle before police heard a gunshot from inside the RV. Her current condition is not known.

A police officer in the city of Caddo Mills observed the speeding RV at approximately 3 a.m., according to NBC 5.

The RV eventually ran over spike strips placed on the interstate in Arlington and sparks flew as the vehicle drove slowly on its rims.

An early morning chase involving an RV ended with a massive fire along Interstate-30 in Arlington.

The fire then escalated, engulfing the RV.

The woman was shot two or three times and was taken to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks said.

Kelly says the children belonged to the couple and both have special needs.

Video showed the two children being safely placed into the back of an ambulance.

The children were transported to Arlington Memorial Hospital to be checked out. They knew, police say, that the two kids remained in the vehicle. Arlington police with conduct the investigation of the man. "I mean, she tried to kill herself, tried to kill me and she pretty much did kill herself", the man told Fox 4 via phone.

Westbound I-30 is closed for the next few hours while police investigate.

Those involved in the chase have yet to be identified.
