Pokémon's Much-Maligned Magikarp Just Got its Own Mobile Game

By feeding your Magikarp and partaking in a variety of different training regimes, players can participate in an all new sporting event known as 'jumping'.

The latest Pokemon game, Magikarp Jump, has started rolling out on mobile app stores worldwide.

It is a unique game where you train Magikarp to jump as high as possible.

The official description of the game is full of the irreverent humor that usually surrounds this type of Pokemon.

The new game is all about raising Magikarp, a floppy fish Pokemon widely considered to be the weakest and most worthless of all Pokemon species.

Although Magikarp is the star of Pokemon: Magikarp Jump, plenty of other Pokemon will also make appearances. When your Magikarp gets knocked out, or retires at level 20, you start again with a new-generation version of the creature.

It's adorable and fun, and free to play (with in-app purchases), so check it out if you're a fan of the series. Gameplay basically consists on tap the food that appears on the screen to give it to your Magikarp, and then complete the jump training to increase its level.

Magikarp is underrated and often made fun of. While this seems a bit harsh, Magikarp's weakness is what makes the character so endearing and it's why so many Pokemon fans will surely take interest in Magikarp Jump now that the mobile game is available across the globe for iOS and Android users.
