Penguins To Start Matt Murray In Goal

What a difference a day makes?

The Ottawa Senators are fit to be tied.

Who would have been your Game 4 starter for the Pittsburgh Penguins? Trevor Daley missed four games with a lower-body injury but returned for Game 3 against the Senators after Schultz was injured on a hit from Mike Hoffman in Game 2. They are focused on the goal of sending the Penguins packing. The Senators faithful weren't happy with their team's effort and had a right to be upset because this wasn't the performance anybody expected with so much on the line.

"It's not as bad as we thought". "We have a group where we're really confident in our team and our ability to play the right way".

Coach Guy Boucher isn't anxious the Senators aren't being given much credit.

Outshot 14-9 by Pittsburgh, Maatta beat Anderson on the stick side with only 46 seconds left with the Penguins breaking in on an odd-man rush.

"I don't want to make this about me", Fleury said to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I was asked. So I answer questions". Rowney has been a reliable defensive player and getting a lot of penalty-killing time, while Wilson is getting a chance with the second power play unit. "You don't really give your team a chance in the game", he said. Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury was shelled and replaced with Matt Murray.

The momentum came to a sudden and emphatic halt in the first period Wednesday night.

Since we haven't checked the population of the world lately, we can't argue with Boucher on his numbers.

(Bruce Bennett/USA TODAY) This is Matt Murray hoisting the Stanley Cup over his head last June after starring in Pittsburgh's championship win over the San Jose Sharks.

"It's something you kind of have to keep in the back of your mind".

Game 1: One goal in more than three periods.

"(The Senators are) expecting a big pushback from them.

"I think just throughout the league it's so tight now", Clarke MacArthur, another Sens winger, said. "These guys have both helped us win games. They've been here. So, they know a thing or two about composure as well". He won the Penguins a Cup previous year.

A late goal by Maatta on Anderson, and certainly one he'd like to have back, gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead after the first.

Home-ice advantage has been a misnomer in the playoffs, with road teams going 30-23. The Senators haven't backed down to anyone and they're not about to start. Both of these guys have helped this team win all year long and they're both high quality people and they're high quality goaltenders.

And of course Crawford (or Crosby) will want to stay in the game. "It's not going to go 16 games in a row perfectly". If that happens, and Pittsburgh falls behind 3-1 and goes on to lose this series, Sullivan might lose his job too. "They just go about their business. So we'll be ready". Ottawa has compensated by ramping up physical play.

The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Ottawa Senators 3-2 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference final on Friday night.

"Still waiting", Boucher said Thursday. The Penguins had been trying to protect the lead and that got the Senators to within striking distance. "Still hopeful for (Friday)". Both Kuznetsov and Backstrom have four goals and three assists through six games. We may never know.

If Burrows is unavailable, the club has no shortage of depth.

Game 5 is set for Sunday in Pittsburgh.

The Senators closed the gap in the third period.

Penguins are 1-4 in their last 5 vs.
