Go Bowling 400 At Kansas Speedway Preview

Miller said as many as 10 cars have failed pre-qualifying inspection this season, usually on intermediate tracks such as 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway, but did not recall 11. He's starting eighth Saturday night and figures to be in the hunt for a win.

The closing laps tested Truex's resolve.

Kyle Larson, Daniel Suarez, Jamie McMurray, Clint Bowyer and Trevor Bayne completed the first 10 finishers.

It all came down to the restarts, and that's when Truex was at his best, especially on the final restart with two laps remaining.

Harris started 12 games as a sophomore in 2015, but was pulled after a struggling in a season-opening loss to Wisconsin followed by a bad start against Jacksonville State in Week 2.

The demands on Bowyer's time have only increased this week at Kansas, now that he's back at the front. His margin of victory over runner-up Brad Keselowksi was 1.1 seconds. "The heartbreaks we've been through, I'm definitely proud tonight to cross that checkered flag first". Incidents from Erik Jones, Gray Gaulding, Corey LaJoie, and debris from Jimmie Johnson's vehicle slowed the field down several times. "I knew if I didn't come out of those restarts with the lead, I probably wasn't going to win". One thing to watch for is that the temperature could drop by a double-digit amount from the time the race starts until its conclusion, causing an extra headache for crew chiefs.

Bowyer, of Emporia, returned from racing purgatory this year when he stepped into vehicle owner Tony Stewart's ride after cooling his heels with an under-financed team in 2016.

"When he said he had a failure, I can't say it made me feel that much better in the moment". You know for years and years even before I was with this team, for whatever reason we always ran good here and never could close the deal.

"Proud to get these guys back in victory lane". The debris that was scattered across the track caused a red flag, stopping the race for almost 30 minutes. Appreciate all the fans. We have improved a lot on that this year. "I met a bunch of them before the race and hopefully they're all psyched".

The win on the night before Mother's Day marked Truex's ninth win of his career.

"Why that tiny bolt didn't fall off the stud was beyond me", Truex said in a statement released by his Furniture Row Racing team.

"The last two years have just been - it's just every weekend has had that feeling", Truex said. "Awesome weekend. This team rocks, man, they're so good".

"We just stuck with it all night". We had an awesome race auto. No communication. We are learning all those things and you can see it getting better each week.

"Toward the end we made some runs and made the most of it".

But with all the jubilation of the victory, Truex was also reflective about the race accident that injured Aric Almirola. "Any of these restarts you never know what can happen". I was trying everything I could to chase him back down, but I just didn't have enough speed. I hope Aric is all right.

"These races are so hard to win, any of those restarts I could've gotten beat on", Truex said after the several late race restarts of the night.

He remains second in driver points but leads the series with 15 playoff bonus points. The stage win was Blaney's third of the season, with the other two coming at Texas.
